Statement of Beliefs
The following is a list of our fundamental beliefs and is what we believe the Bible teaches...
1. We believe in one God, the Father, all knowing, all powerful, the uncreated One, who had no beginning and who will have no end, who dwells in eternity. We believe in God's only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, by whom all things were created and continue to exist, and whom God sent into the world to offer His life a ransom for all humanity. We do not believe in a trinity of divine beings - we believe the Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit is the presence of the Father and the Son.
Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:3 All things were made through him, and without him nothing was made that has been made.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Romans 8:9 But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.
2. We believe that God created the heavens and the earth, in six literal days, and that God rested on the seventh day of creation and blessed and sanctified that day and set it apart for a holy use. Consequently we believe that God commands observance of the seventh day Sabbath, as stated in the fourth commandment, from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday, as a day of rest and communion with God. We believe that the Sabbath is God's seal, or mark of loyalty, for God's faithful people living just prior to the return of Jesus Christ. We believe that the Sabbath will be kept by the redeemed throughout eternity.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Exodus 20:8-11 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labour, and do all your work, but the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work; you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Revelation 7:2-4. And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, saying, Do not hurt the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads. And I heard the number of those who were sealed: and there were sealed a hundred and forty four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
Isaiah 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, all flesh shall come to worship before me, says the LORD.
3. We believe that human beings are created in God's image, and that the first man was formed by God from the ground. Consequently we deny the theory of evolution as fact, and all that it implies.
Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.
Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Matthew 19:4 And he answered and said to them, Have you not read, that he who made them at the beginning made them male and female
4. We believe that a person is saved only by faith in Jesus Christ, that Christ is the only way to God, and that faith must result in a person being born again through the Holy Spirit in order to be saved into God's kingdom.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no one comes to the Father, except through me.
John 3:5-7 Jesus answered, Most assuredly I say to you, unless a man is born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born again.
Acts 4:12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved.
5. We believe in baptism by immersion as a public confession of faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and of our death to sin and intention to walk in newness of life.
Matthew 3:16-17 When he had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and alighting upon him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Acts 8:36-37 Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, See, here is water; what hinders me from being baptized? Then Philip said, If you believe with all your heart, you may. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
6. We believe that our bodies are the temple of God's spirit, and that it is the responsibility of each of us to keep our body healthy, holy and undefiled.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
1 Corinthians 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
7. We believe that we are God's stewards, entrusted by Him to spread His word using our time, resources and opportunities. We believe it is our obligation to return a tenth of our income to God, which is to be used to spread His word, and to provide for those less fortunate, so that they may share in the blessings which God has bestowed upon us.
Genesis 14:20 And blessed be the most high God, who has delivered your enemies into your hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed me. But you say, In what way have we robbed you? In tithes and offerings.
8. We believe that the Law of God, as expressed in the Ten Commandments, is still binding on humanity, that it is the foundation of God's government and an expression of His very character, and that it is the standard by which human beings will be judged. We believe that we are called to be people who reflect God's character, people who think, feel, and act in harmony with the principles of heaven.
Matthew 5:17-19 Do not think that I came to destroy the law, or the prophets: I did not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For assuredly I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law, till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
John 14:15 If you love me, keep my commandments.
1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not burdensome.
Revelation 11:19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his covenant
Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
9. We believe that there are in the world a faithful remnant people whom God has called to give the final warning message to the whole world, as embodied in the Three Angels Messages of Revelation 14:6-10, prior to the second coming of Jesus Christ.
1 Kings 19:18 Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him.
Revelation 14:6-10 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth - to every nation, tribe, tongue and people - saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment has come: and worship him who made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of water. And another angel followed, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead, or in his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb.
10. We believe in the imminent second coming of Jesus Christ, which will bring an end to present human history and which will see the establishment of God's everlasting kingdom of peace and righteousness.
Mark 14:62 And Jesus said, I am: and you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
Revelation 22:11 He who is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he who is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he who is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he who is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I am coming quickly; and my reward is with me, to give everyone according to his work.
11. We believe the wages of sin is death, and that death is like a sleep. We believe that God alone is immortal and that He will grant eternal life to His redeemed people. Until that day death is an unconscious state for all people. At the second coming of Christ, the resurrected righteous and the living righteous will be glorified and caught up to meet the Lord in the air - this is the first resurrection. The second resurrection, the resurrection of the unrighteous, will take place a thousand years later.
1 Thessalonians 4:14-17 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so those also who sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain to the coming of the Lord shall not precede those who are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we always be with the Lord.
Revelation 20:4-7 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them: then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and who had not worshipped the beast, nor his image, neither had received his mark on their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection: over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. And when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison
Revelation 20:14-15 Then death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
12. We believe that the second coming of Christ will begin the millennium, which is the thousand-year reign of Christ with His faithful people in heaven, which occurs between the first and second resurrections. We believe that at the end of the thousand years the Great Controversy between Christ and Satan will come to an end and that the earth will be made new, purified by the fire which at that time will destroy the unrighteous forever. We believe that the new earth is where the righteous will dwell with God for eternity, having everlasting life, with love, joy, and learning in His presence. We believe that God Himself will dwell with His people, that the earth made new will become His permanent dwelling place, His throne, and that suffering and death will have passed away forever.
Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accused them before our God day and night.
Revelation 21:1-3 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the dwelling place of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
13. We believe that a Great Controversy has been and still is raging between Christ and Satan, regarding the character of God, His law, His justice, His mercy, His love, and His sovereignty over all of creation.
Isaiah 14:13-14 For you have said in your heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the farthest sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Revelation 12:7-9 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail; nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, who deceives the whole world: he was cast out to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
14. We believe that the gift of the Spirit of Prophecy is a distinguishing mark of God's faithful remnant people at the end of present human history.
Hosea 12:13 By a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was preserved.
2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy did not come in times past by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
Revelation 19: 10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."
15. We believe that the Roman Catholic church system is the Antichrist power described in Bible prophecy, and that it is the inheritor of the mystery religion which had its origin in ancient Babylon. We hold this belief in common with all of the great protestant reformers throughout history, men such as: Martin Luther, Ulrich Zwingli, John Knox, John Calvin, Huss and Jerome.
Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall persecute the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand for a time, times and half a time.
Daniel 11:37 He shall regard neither the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall exalt himself above all.
2 Thessalonians 2:4 Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God
Revelation 17:4-5 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication. And upon her forehead a name was written; MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
Revelation 17:9 And here is the mind which has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sits.
16. We believe the whole Bible, both the old and new testaments, as the infallible, inerrant and inspired word of God. We believe that the Bible alone is our only rule of faith and practice. We believe that the Bible should be interpreted literally, except where the context clearly indicates otherwise.
Isaiah 2810 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.
Isaiah 662 But on this one I will look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at My word.
John 6:56 He who eats my flesh, and drinks my blood, dwells in me, and I in him.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak to you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Revelation 22:18-21 For I testify to everyone that hears the words of the prophecy of this book, If anyone shall add to these things, God shall add to him the plagues that are written in this book. And if anyone shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. He who testifies these things says, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Sola gratia. Sola fide. Sola scriptura.
Grace alone. Faith alone. The Bible alone.
